Questions about Webservices.nl
What can you do with Webservices.nl?
Webservices.nl enables you to enrich data quickly and simply at the time of entry. Besides the simple checking of data, relevant information is retrieved real-time from various databases and added to the entered date. In addition to creating complete data, this assures a correct record and optimises the quality of databases.
For whom are webservices suitable?
Webservices are suitable for all companies and organisations that attach importance to the quality of data. The big advantage of webservices is that after simple implementation the data remains up-to-date all the time. You don't need to purchase any expensive data licences, so the services of Webservices.nl are also highly suited to smaller companies.
When was Webservices.nl established?
Webservices.nl began at the start of 2005 as a spin-off of Postcode.nl. The company started developing online data validation services in 2000. The directory service of Postcode.nl is now the most interrogated site in the Netherlands for obtaining addresses. Partly because of the demand among customers of Postcode.nl for more online information, it was decided to establish a new sister company called Webservices.nl alongside Postcode.nl.
Questions about ordering
A subscription that must be taken beforehand allows you to use a maximum credit. The prices for the various services depend on the number of validations that will be executed. As you use more, the price per transaction decreases. You can request an order form in a simple way via the contract form.
What happens to my credit at the end of the subscription year?
The credit will be topped up each subscription year. Any unused credit will be lost. However, you can use your credit within the subscription year for other functions (such as routes, Chamber of Commerce information, vehicle data, real estate data and so on).
Can I increase my subscription in the interim?
You can increase your subscription to a higher credit any time you want. To do this you simply have to fill in the appropriate order form. Registered customers can also increase their credit by e-mail or by telephone.
What do I do when I've used up my credit?
Each end-user automatically receives an e-mail as soon as the credit has reached a certain low level. The end-user can set this level. From the time that this level is reached, the end-user will receive an e-mail every day stating the credit still remaining. At that time you can top up the account by e-mail or by telephone. Once the credits have been used up, the system will stop.
Questions about applications and functions
Webservices.nl already provides more than 150 national and international webservices. They vary from the simple enriching of the postcode/house number combination with a complete address to store locators, Land Registry information, vehicle registration number links and company data. View here the overview of all webservices functions available.
Using our geo-coding function you can very easily find the nearest office. You can do this for all locations within a radius of x metres, the three nearest locations, a map with dynamic locations, etc.
We have the XY coordinates for all locations in the Netherlands. This is useful, if you want to display a map or to calculate travelling distances, for example. It is possible to configure the database in such a way that a coordinate is fed back for every location in the database. This may be either the RD (Dutch national triangulation system) coordinate or the XY (lat/long) coordinate. You can then display the coordinate on the map. Street plans and Google Maps can both be used for this purpose.
How accurate is the postcode check?
The postcode database contains more than 8 million delivery points and more than 645,000 address series. The database is updated weekly and accessible real-time. This means that changes are available to our customers very quickly on our database server.
What if I don't know the postcode?
Even if you don't know the postcode, you can still use the address webservice to obtain a complete address. If you enter the address, house number and city/town, these details will not only be placed in the correct format, but the associated postcode will be provided as well.
Each function that is executed provides a detailed XML message that contains the relevant information. It is up to the end-user to decide which information will be displayed on the screen or will be entered into the database. The documentation describes the information that will be fed back for each function.
Questions about data and partnering possibilities
Where does Webservices.nl obtain the information?
Webservices.nl works with the source data owners to the fullest extent possible. This is because the data owners are the parties who are best able to keep the databases in optimum condition. By using the most up-to-date information real-time, the very latest information is always supplied. In the Netherlands we work with companies and organisations including TNT, Cendris, the Chamber of Commerce, Geodan, Falk-Andes, the Land Registry, Graydon, Dun & Bradstreet, Human Inference and RDW (Centre for Vehicle Technology and Information).
Which companies use webservices?
We have customers in all sectors and they vary from small to very large, both in The Netherlands and in other countries. Partly because the webservices are very easy to implement and there is no need to obtain expensive data licences, our service can be used by any company. Some of our customers are mentioned on the website under the heading With whom do we do this?
Webservices.nl has an extensive partner programme. Business partners couple the provided webservices to the software applications of end-users. The partner can then redirect the end-user to Webservices.nl to conclude an agreement. But it is also possible to take subscriptions for customers. You can find more information about the partner programme via the partner section of the website.
